Congress stages silent protest to demand justice for Hathras raped victim

HOJAI: Hojai District Congress Committee staged a silent protest to demand justice for the 19-year old girl who was allegedly gang-raped on September 14 in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh.

The demonstration was staged in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office in Sankardevnagar in Hojai on Wednesday. Secretary of the District Congress Committee, Bijay Chakraborty said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had forgotten the slogan 'Beti Bachao, Beti padhao' with which it came to power. Chakraborty further demanded proper investigation into the incident and strict punishment for the perpetrators at the earliest.
