BOKO: Kamrup district Congress Committee took out a mass protest rally and also blocked NH-17 at Boko in Kamrup district on Monday against inflation, unemployment, price hike, and demonetisation.

The protest rally was led by Boko MLA Nandita Das. Chaygaon MLA Rekibuddin Ahmed, former MLA of Palashbari, Jatin Mali, Kamrup District Congress president Ghanashyam Kalita, and secretary Dharma Jain took part in the rally. Boko block Congress president Arabinda Rabha presided over the rally. More than 1,000 people took part in the protest rally, which started from the Boko Kenduguri village Indian Oil petrol pump to the Regional Sericulture Research Station, Boko. After that, they blocked the NH-17 for few minutes.

MLA Nandita Das alleged that due to the wrong policy of the present BJP government, the whole country was now suffering from inflation. The BJP government had promised to give jobs to 2 crore unemployed youths every year but now there were job cuts in both the private sector and government sector. Near 40 lakh people have lost their jobs till now, said the MLA.

“The government is now preparing to sell public sector companies like NRL, paper mills, airlines, and railways. Due to this, the unemployment growth rate has increased to 8.11 percent, which is double that of the international unemployment rate,” she added.

She also alleged that by demonetisation, the government tried to curb black money and widespread counterfeit currency in the country. But reports claim that in the last three years, Rs 24 lakh crore fake Indian currency notes had been recovered. “The government has just destroyed the Indian economy. The government even failed to solve the problems of women,” she lamented.
