DONGKAMUKAM: With the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) election approaching, the Indian National Congress (INC) who ruled the council at Diphu for 15 years is prepared to bring back its lost glory. With such an aim to revive the Congress, on Wednesday Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Bora visited West Karbi Anglong along with APCC general secretary Golap Saikia.
"By seeing the workers' enthusiasm, we are hopeful that Congress will come back to power in the next Council polls," Bora said during the extended executive meeting held at the conference hall, Dongkamukam, West Karbi Anglong, organized by WKADCC. He urged for unity among the workers and to avoid groupism and family politics in order to win the election. He also gave a free hand to the district Congress leaders for alliance with regional parties. Bora also slammed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang. In the meeting, altogether 80 persons from the BJP, NPP and APHLC joined the Congress.
