LAKHIMPUR: Constitution Day was observed on Friday in a befitting manner in Naoboicha Higher Secondary School, a leading educational institution of Naoboicha area under Lakhimpur district.
The programme organized on this occasion commenced with science teacher Jyoti Hazarika in the chair under the management of subject teacher Putul Borah. In the programme, a pledge was taken in order to protect the ideals of the Constitution of India and its dignity by reading the preamble. It was conducted by teacher Pulok Jyoti Sonowal.
This event was followed by a school awareness programme on tobacco and health. This programme was held under the aegis of the District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Lakhimpur in collaboration with Assam Cancer Care Foundation, a unit of Government of Assam & TATA Trust, Lakhimpur. In the same event, awareness was created among the students and public present on tobacco and its ill effects and common cancer and its burden. This programme was chaired by Dronakanta Nath under the management of teacher Rajib Baruah. In the programme, DTCC Nodal Officer Dr. Jagadish Goswami took part as resource person while Dr. Diptimoni Das, Ankita Gosh, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar and Rajira Khatun were present as co-resource persons.
On the same day, a symposium on 'Biodiversity and Its Importance' was also organized in the school under the auspices of Youth and Eco Club. Dr. Jagadish Goswami participated as the resource person of the symposium. He made informative replies to various queries raised by the students on the stipulated topic during the interactive session.
Later, the school campus and its surrounding area was recognized as an anti-tobacco and tobacco-free area by marking it with yellow line by the district administration in association with the District Tobacco Control Cell and Assam Cancer Care Foundation.
