DONGKAMUKAM: A consultative and interactive meet between political leaders, representatives of Asian Development Bank (ADB), PWD (R) officers, representatives from the Revenue Department and public was held on Wednesday at Tumpreng near Mandir, West Karbi Anglong, for execution of the Assam Mala Project. Under the scheme, for the construction of the Hamren-Tumpreng-Hojai Nilbagan-Howraghat Tiniali road covering 74.4 km, Rs 773.18 crore has been sanctioned by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
The general public in the meet demanded that the compensation against the land acquisitions should be given at the highest rate and in a transparent manner. Moreover, the compensation should be credited directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries and not through any third party.
The local people expressed dissatisfaction over the meeting arrangement made by the department and demanded another meeting to be held in the next few days.
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) MAC Chandra Br Chetry, chairman of Veterinary Board, Ditolal Hasnu were present. ADB was represented by Pronoi Kumar and Suresh Kumar while the Revenue Department was represented by Dilip Teron.
