Guwahati: After detection of Covid-19 positive cases at the Arihan apartment in Panbazar area of Guwahati city, an area in the locality has been declared as a Containment Zone. Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu directed the circle officer, Guwahati revenue circle, to seal the areas with immediate effect.
The boundaries of the Panbazar Containment Zone area are as follows:
North: C.K. Road
South: Pahariya Sadan Building
East: Kaliram Sadan Building
West: S.C. Goswami
It is pertinent to mention here that 5 areas in the city were declared as Containment Zones on Friday after the detection of Covid-19 positive cases. These areas are: Bathou Nagar in Noonmati, Krishna Nagar in Maligaon, Lichubagan in Hengrabari, Indrapur Hill Top and the Guwahati Central Jail.
This order has been made under the regulations "The Assam Covid-19 Regulations, 2020", "The Disaster Management Act-2005", "The Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897", and other relevant laws of the nation. Any violation of this rule will now attract punishment under relevant sections of the law.
Meanwhile, 38 more Covid-19 patients undergoing treatment in Assam have been released after recovering from the respiratory illness. With the release of these patients, the number of released patients in Assam has skyrocketed upwards to 547.
To date, Assam has registered 2,324 cases of the coronavirus, and 1,770 cases are active. Meanwhile, India's total number of Covid-19 cases went past Italy's count with total cases surging to 2,36,657. India is now at the sixth spot in the list of nations with the highest caseloads of the virus. The United States still leads the global tally with 6,871,857 cases and 398,666 deaths.
