BISWANATH CHARIALI: A 14-member convening committee of AssCommitteeam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) was formed at a meeting held at the auditorium of Binapani Natya Mandir at Biswanath Chariali on Sunday. The meeting was presided over by Apurba Das, a social worker. Sonitpur and Biswanath district convener Jan Bara explained the objectives of the meeting while it was conducted by Diganta Borah. The committee was formed with retired Principal of Dudhnai College Dr Gopal Phukan, Amrit Hazarika, Mridul Das, Palash Barkakti, Kandarpa Hazarika, Madhu Das, Birinchi Deka Baruah, Gopal Hazarika, Gunasindhu Deka Baruah, Bhaben Bania, Diganta Gohain, Deveshwar Baruah, Mintu Sharma, Shiva Borah, Gajen Bhuyan and Jintu Borah as convenors. A resolution was passed to form the Biswanath District Committee representing all ethnic groups within 15 days. It was also decided on the formation of constituency committees, regional committees and booth committees at a later stage. Dr Gopal Phukon, Mrinal Goswami, Kandarpa Hazarika, Diganta Gohain, Deveshwar Baruah, Mintu Sharma etc spoke a few words on how to make the new party a strong regional party in the State.
