Corona Virus Impact: No public meetings, No Nam Kirtan, No Bhaona, No Geeta Path in Sivasagar from today onwards

Guwahati: In view of the threat posed by the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the district administration of Sivasagar has banned all kinds of public functions in the district from March 14 onwards.

As per a notification, in pursuance of a video conference held on March 13, 2020, on Corona Virus with the Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, all functions like public meetings, Nam Kirtan, Bhaona, Geeta Path etc are hereby banned with immediate effect until further order.

It may be mentioned that the number of coronavirus positive cases in India has risen to 84.

Seven persons, who tested positive, including five from Uttar Pradesh and one each from Rajasthan and Delhi, have been discharged after treatment.

The officials maintained that more than 4000 people who had come in contact with the 84 positive cases are under surveillance.
