Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, issued an instruction on Friday to determine the prices that private hospitals will charge patients for Covid treatment in the state.
Patient-friendly pricing for COVID-19 treatment in super-specialty and general wards was agreed upon during a review conference with the health ministry.
"Issued instructions to fix the rates for Covid- 19 treatment in private hospitals. Affordable rates have been fixed for both general & super-speciality wards," tweeted the Assam CM.
In the high-level meeting chaired by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma along with Assam Minister of Health Keshab Mahanta, the CM took notice of the COVID-19 situation and management in the state and tweeted, "to bring positivity and mortality rates further down, Covid patients of any age group with any comorbidity will be kept in institutional quarantine."
As of Wednesday, Assam reported 4,309 COVID-19 cases taking the active caseload in the state to 50,534. In the last 24 hours, 46 COVID-19 induced deaths were reported taking the death toll in the state to 3,523 cases.
On Thursday, the number of active cases in Assam fell for the fifth day in a row, while the number of fatalities fell below 50 for the first time in 25 days. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday that the Covid-19 restrictions in Guwahati might be lifted in part next week if the current trend of COVID-19 cases declining continues over the weekend.
