COVID-19: 38 new cases, 1 death registered in Lakhimpur district

LAKHIMPUR: One more person succumbed to COVID-19 in Lakhimpur district. He has been identified as Dimbeswar Dutta (85), resident of Thakurbari Road Ward No. 8 of North Lakhimpur town. He breathed his last in Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital (LMCH) around 7.30pm on Saturday night.

On the other hand, a total of 38 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Sunday. Out of them, 37 cases were found to be positive for COVID-19 as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while rest 1 case was detected as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test.

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district during the second wave of the pandemic has hiked to 9,854 since April 1 of this year. Out of them, 8995 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 760 have been active cases at present. On Sunday, 56 recovered patients were discharged from institutional isolation while 13 recovered patients were discharged from home isolation. During the second wave, 99 people succumbed to the COVID-19 in the district raising the overall tally of the pandemic fatalities up to 158 including the last year's fatalities.
