LAKHIMPUR: The alarming spike of COVID-19 cases still continues in Lakhimpur district. The total cases in the district crossed the mark of 6,000 on Saturday. In the meantime, a total of 27 people of the district lost their life due to COVID-19 infection.

A total of 56 new COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Saturday till the time of filing this report. Of them, 50 patients were found positive for coronavirus infection through Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) while remaining six patients were detected as per real time Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (rRT-PCR) Test result.

Notably, a total of 385 patients were detected in the district in the last three days. Out of them, 161 patients were found positive on Wednesday, 108 on Thursday while 116 patients were detected on Friday. With these newly-detected patients, the number of total COVID-19 cases spiked to 6,028 on Saturday. Out of them, 4,393 patients have been discharged while 1,635 are active cases. They are under treatment at the District COVID Hospital at Telahi Model Hospital (86), Laluk COVID Care Centre (CCC) at Laluk Model Hospital (50) Narayanpur CCC at Narayanpur Model Hospital (50), Narayanpur Poly-technique CCC (102), Boginadi CCC at Boginadi Model Hospital (50), Naoboicha College CCC (180) and North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital (80) while the remaining patients are in home isolation.
