Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that night curfew will start from 11 PM on February 1, instead of the present at 10 PM.

He apprised the same while talking to reporters on Sunday.

''Since, there are almost no deaths reported to the omicron in the state, the state curfew timings in the state from February 1 will be from 11 PM,'' he said.

He further informed that the rate of hospitalization is also lower than 12 percent which is very satisfactory in terms of the status of the COVID-19 in the state.

He also asserted that the government may intr0duce new restrictions if the state witnesses a severe variant of the virus.

Speaking on the containment zones, the Chief Minister said that in a bid to contain the spread of the virus, containment zones may be announced in places where the virus rises. However, there will be no restriction on the people, so that they can continue their normal life.

Notably, on Sunday, Assam witnessed a dip in the COVID-19 with a total of 2277 new cases and 13 deaths.
