Golaghat: The District Magistrate accorded permission to resume operation of tea gardens in Golaghat district while following the protocol of COVID-19.
In an office order issued by the District Magistrate vide no. GMJ.1/2020/Covid-19/ dated April 11, 2020, it said that with promulgation of lockdown to combat COVID-19, the entire process of tea industries had come to a grinding halt. The tea industry being the lifeline of the district and also being the major source of income generation, it is understandable that continuity and resumption of the tea industry will certainly act as fillip to an age-old activity.
The government communication dated 34/03/2020 vide MHA’s addendum, GOI Order No. 40-3/2020-DM-1 A clearly speaks about opening of tea gardens while ensuring that social distancing and proper hygiene practices are maintained.
Considering all aspects in view, the District Magistrate accorded permission to open tea gardens, tea gardens being run and operated by small tea growers and bought leaf factories with immediate effect. The order is liable to be altered or cancelled if any contravention is either reported or seen against the conditions laid down.
