DEMOW: After the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the circulation of newspapers has been badly affected in Demow. The main reason behind this is the false news that newspapers could be carriers of the virus.

Even though it has been clarified that newspapers do not spread the virus, most people are not convinced, said a newspaper agent of Demow. “I kept my newspaper agency closed from March 25 to March 31. On April 1, I started the agency again by bringing in few English, Hindi and Assamese newspapers. But circulation has been affected in Demow,” said C Dey, owner of the Dey Agency Unique, the oldest and leading newspaper agency of Demow. “After the lockdown newspaper circulation may increase,” said Dipak Talukdar, a newspaper hawker of Demow who comes Jhallong near Demow on his bicycle every day to distribute newspapers.
