SILCHAR: The district administration of Cachar has virtually launched all out war against COVID-19. A war room is operating to help COVID patients with volunteers keeping contacts with them and extending all possible help. Each and every segment of society has been brought under its ambit. Tests, both RAT and RT-PCR tests have been taken up on war-footing in urban and rural areas by setting up centres at public convenient places. Along with that vaccination facilities for 18 and above have also been augmented to cover the entire eligible persons. All this goes on under the dynamic leadership of Keerthi Jalli, Deputy Commissioner of Cachar.

COVID-19 Situation in Cachar

Yet the human casualty graph remains on higher side. According to the updates on COVID-19, this evening released by the district administration in April and May, death counted for 102 persons shown as 18 COVID and 84 non-COVID. Numbers of cases found positive today are 299 and total positive cases reported stand at 449. Numbers of RT-PCR positive counted for 150 while active cases as on today are 3314. Against this not so good scenario, 436 patients have been discharged. In two months, 169, 227 people have been vaccinated and the administration is concentrated on vaccination drive. People in general continue to show scant care for COVID guidelines repeatedly being asked to follow them. Wearing of masks, maintaining social distance and not to move to crowded places are hardly adhered to by most of the people. Many of the patients in home isolation are reported to move out and mix with crowd, Unless people restrain themselves, the administration alone cannot control in the infection.
