LAKHIMPUR: Despite the grim situation of COVID-19 pandemic with high positivity rate during the recent days, COVID-19 vaccination drive is underway in Lakhimpur district following the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and State Government since January 16.
On Monday, a special vaccination drive was undertaken in the district by the Health Department as per the direction of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. On that day, a total of 22,853 beneficiaries were vaccinated across the district. Out of them, 16,104 people from 18 years to 44 years were vaccinated with first dose while 29 people of the same age group were vaccinated with second dose. Similarly, 6,025 people over 45 years were vaccinated with first dose while 648 people were inoculated with second dose. In addition to them, one healthcare worker was vaccinated with first dose while 22 healthcare workers were vaccinated with second dose. Moreover, eight frontline workers were administered the first dose and 16 frontline workers were given the second dose. On that day, a total of 755 vials of Covishield vaccine and 1,528 vials of Covaxin vaccine were used. On the other hand, a total of 2,63,123 people of the district were vaccinated till July 12.
According to the information from District Immunization Officer Dr. Gunin Kumar Gogoi, 2,28,734 people of the district got shots of Covishield vaccine while 34,389 people were vaccinated with Covaxin. Till that day, 1,99,709 people were given the first dose of Covishield while 29,025 people were given the second dose. On the other hand, first dose of Covaxin was administered to 25,917 while 8,472 people were administered with the second dose of the same.
