Guwahati: Due to the cluster of Covid-19 positive cases in Ward no 2 and 3 of Gauripur town in Dhubri district, both areas have been declared as containment zone with immediate effect.
In an order, Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of DDMA of Dhubri, Anant Lal Gyani said, "There was a clustering of Covid-19 positive cases in the ward No 2 and 3 of Gauripur town area due to the increase in the number of positive cases in the last few days. A closer look at the ground level situation might reveal more number of Covid-19 positive cases outside these wards, but comparatively lesser. But the clustering of cases in the area is something of concern and cannot be ruled out."
In view of this, it has been decided to declare entire Ward No 2 and 3 of Gauripur town as containment zone, read the order. The order also informed that community-level Rapid Antigen Kit Test will be conducted from July 23 onwards to ascertain the momentum of the clustering.
Citing improvement in the Covid-19 situation, Gyani remarked that extensive testing, isolation, and other restrictive measures have contained the spread to some extent. But he also added that the optimistic containment of the pandemic necessitates the further extension of prohibitory measures in the areas where clustering has been observed.
Ward No 2 and 3 of Gauripur, Dhubri will continue to be containment zone for the next 14 days and even afterwards until any further order. Two days ago, the Community Health Centre of Gauripur town has also been declared as a containment zone.
It needs mention here that the movement of people is strictly restricted in the containment zones. Even essential commodities are provided at the people's doorsteps by the authorities.
