COVID positive cases continue to surge across Assam

TEZPUR: A total of 192 fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in Sonitpur district on Saturday, thereby increasing the total number of active cases in the district to 992. These cases were reported from various parts of the district.

On Friday, 160 positive cases were reported in Sonitpur district. The total number of COVID deaths in the district increased to 36 since May of last year till today. Till Friday, a total of 1,34,335 people have received COVID-19 vaccines. Out of 1,34,335 people, 1,03,411 have taken the first dose while 30,924 people have got the second dose of vaccine in Sonitpur district.

DEMOW: A total of 112 new cases for COVID-19 were detected in Sivasagar district on Saturday. According to sources, there were 606 active cases in the district till Saturday. Total 534 patients are under home isolation, 46 in Sivasagar Civil Hospital, 8 in Siu-Ka-Pha Hospital, 2 in Sanjeevani, Dibrugarh, 2 in Brahmaputra Hospital Dibrugarh, 1 in JMCH, Jorhat, 3 in AMCH, Dibrugarh, and 10 in ONGC, Sivasagar. Total 49 patients were discharged on Saturday.

BARPETA: On Saturday, 174 new cases of COVID were detected Barpeta district (including some parts of Bajali), taking the tally of positive cases to 2,075.

There are total 1,446 active cases. The numbers are - Nityananda BPHC- 22; Barpeta Road BPHC-29, Bhabanipur- 25, Kalgachia BPHC-10, Kagachia BCH- 1, Mandia- 11, Nagaon -17, Chenga-28, FAAMCH-18, Urban Health Centre, Barpeta-04, RTPCR - 4, Sanjivani Hospital- 2, Pathsala -1, Satis Sarma Memorial, Pathsala- 1 and 1 outside the district.

Total 598 cases have been discharged till now and six have been shifted to Guwahati. Till now 25 people have died of COVID in the entire district.

DHEKIAJULI: On Saturday, 47 new COVID positive cases were detected in greater Dhekiajuli area. On Saturday, altogether 220 RAT was done in different parts of Dhekiajuli. Out of these, 47 COVID positive cases were detected in Dhekiajuli Revenue circle area.

Nine out of the 47 COVID positive patients have been shifted to the COVID Care Centre in Tezpur. The highest number of COVID positive cases was detected in Singri SD, which was 31. Other COVID positive cases have been detected in other health centres - 7 in Dhekiajuli CHC, 1 each in Dhekiajuli PHC and Sirajuli Model Hospital, 2 in Rangagora HWC, Garubandha SD, and in Batasipur NPHC, and 2 each in Raikhasmari NPHC and Borsola NPHC.

Dhekiajuli Police on Saturday took some strong measures to ensure that people Dhekiajuli follow COVID protocol. Several persons were punished for violating COVID protocol in different parts of Dhekiajuli town.
