BISWANATH CHARIALI: Amila Khatun of Japariguri, a COVID-19 positive patient, gave birth to a baby girl at Biswanath Civil Hospital on Monday. The baby weighed 2.8 kg at the time of birth. According to doctors, both the mother and new born baby were doing fine. Getting information, Biswanath Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarmah visited the hospital and enquired about the health of both mother and the baby. Congratulating the medical team on their success, he said, "This is indeed an achievement of the medical team. In this hour of gloom due to the COVID pandemic, such news brings positivity in the air and reaffirms that COVID is not invincible. Dedication of our medical staff will surely help us successfully come out of this trying time."
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 tally reached the 2,197 mark on Sunday, including 30 COVID related deaths, despite preventive measures being intensified by the district administration in Biswanath district. However, 1,543 people have recovered so far.
