TANGLA: The Bhergaon subdivisional administration launched crackdown on the shops selling firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali at Tangla town in Udalguri district on Sunday.

Based on specific inputs on sale of Firecrackerby unauthorized dealers, Assistant Commissioner Kushal Kalita, accompanied by Tangla Police personnel, seized firecrackers from a dealer in Tangla town. “The Bhergaon sub-division administration had given permission for sale of firecrackers to a number of dealers in Tangla, Kalaigaon and Dimakuchi under section 84 of Explosives Rules, 2008. But we found a shop selling them without any permission,” said Kalita.

Meanwhile, the firecrackers were seized for further action. Many people set up cracker shops only for Diwali and do temporary trade after procuring permission from the administration.
