Crackdown on illegal liquor in Golaghat, 12 persons arrested for illicit liquor trade

MERAPANI: The district excise department of Golaghat conducted raids in different places of the district recently. According to sources, 12 persons have been arrested for illicit liquor trade. Five days ago, raids were conducted in illegal liquor dens and nine illegal liquor traders were arrested. ON the other hand, on February 20 and February 21, three more traders were arrested from areas under Merapani and Jamuguri police stations. These three illegal liquor traders, Bhadreswar Bhumij, Prasanta Sonowal, and Sunil Das, have been sent to jail. Talking to media persons, Niranjan Das and Mormeswar Das, Inspector of Golaghat town excise department and Sub-Inspector of Furkating excise police, said that illegal liquor manufacturing equipment worth Rs 2 lakh were seized as well as a large amount of laligur.
