Creating awareness is the weapon to fight against AIDS: Md. Imdadulla

DHUBRI: World AIDS Day was observed under the auspices of Dhubri Joint Director of Health Service with the day-long programme, including taking out procession in the town to create mass awareness on Sunday.

Thousands of social activists and students took part in the long rally taken out in Dhubri town rally by members of NEVARD, an NGO, Phulkumari Bapuji Club, NGO, students of Nursing School, staff and others.

A meeting was also held at the conference hall to disseminate the latest news and views on AIDS and how the world was fighting against the fatal disease. Dhubri Joint Director of Health Services, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Dhubri Civil Hospital, District AIDS Control Officer, District Immunization Officer, Vice-Principal of BN College and other dignitaries spoke at a length and focused on to preventive and curative measures for AIDS.

Dhubri Joint Director of Health Services, Md. Imdadulla elaborately spoke on various aspects of HIV and its control. “AIDS and many other diseases need wider publicity and awareness among the people because there are preventive and curative measures but due to ignorance, people try to conceal their problems. However, when the problems get complicated they rush to doctors but by then it is too late to do anything,” Imdadulla said.

He opined that in order to fight against the disease, the involvement of social organizations and community was a must. More and more social activists and community as a whole should be involved to create awareness as the social campaign was the strongest weapon to fight this menace, Imdadulla further opined.
