DHUBRI: The Dalai Lama Foundation's ethical learning is being implemented among the children of Dhubri district by Piramal Foundation. The district administration and Education Department, in collaboration with Piramal Foundation, launched a campaign named 'Bacho ki Suno' ( Listen to Child ) in Dhubri district, supervised by the Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCCs), headmasters and teachers on September 5 for all the students, with special attention to the girl child.
The campaign is mainly based on Social Emotional Ethical Learning, which is a curriculum developed by Emory University and His Holiness, the Dalai Lama Foundation.
Talking to The Sentinel, Dhubri District Manager of Piramal Foundation, Udai Singh Chundawat said that the idea was to give priority to the holistic development of a child, as mentioned in the new education policy of 2020, by building qualities like self-awareness, compassion, resilience, empathy and gratitude which will help the students to grow into better human beings and better citizens.
"This campaign includes sports, art, drama and poetry through which the students will be developing different qualities in them. This also aims to help the students to understand their emotions and accept the fact by mapping their minds," Chundawat further said.
After the virtual launch of the programme in the district, 8 volunteers from four different communities have already started their session with 37 students from their communities. The campaign will continue for three months focussing on each specific domain and after the opening of the schools, the teachers and the CRCCs will carry it forward with the support of the volunteers.
