Guwahati: In a major robbery in Assam's Golaghat, four unidentified robbers looted a petrol pump at knife point and fled away with large amount of cash and other valuables.

The daring robbery took place in broad daylight on Friday in the Ikrani area of Sarupathar in Golaghat district.

According to the police, a group of four masked robbers carried out the crime and had sharp weapons in their hands. The unidentified miscreants came to Shyam Service Petrol Pump and while threating the pump manager and the staff with their weapons, they fled away looting huge amount of money that was in the cash register which came from the sales since the morning along with other important valuables from the petrol station.

According to the pump manager, the unidentified group of robbers looted cash to the tune of approximately Rs 2 lakh that was in the cash register at the point of time when the incident occurred.

According to the police, the group of notorious robbers also took with them the CCTV monitor that was installed within the premises of the petrol station, along with the mobile phones of three employees who worked at the petrol pump.

Meanwhile talking to the media, the Sarupathar Police told that a team of police personnel had rushed to the petrol pump after being reported about the incident and is swiftly carrying out their investigation in this major robbery and will find out the whereabouts and identities of the robbers soon.
