MANGALDAI: The Darrang district administration and the District Social Welfare Office have geared up with a number of measures to ensure quality and uniformity in hot-cooked meals being served to pre-school children (of Anganwadi centres) between the age group of 0 to 6 years of age.

In a meeting at the conference hall of the DC's office here, on Monday presided over by Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kr Sarma stated that henceforth, food items being provided to Anganwadi centres will have to strictly adhere to the quality standards mandated by the food and civil supplies department, and there will be zero tolerance towards any kind of tinkering with the standards of food items being supplied. Moreover, he also added that uniformity in hot-cooked meals for all anganwadi centres throughout the district will be maintained through a uniform supply of raw food items.

"The children are the future of the country and the district administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the quality of the cooked food for the children," reiterated Deputy Commissioner Pranab Kumar Sarma. He also appealed for constructive feedback from the public and civil society groups, so that the hot-cooked meal programme can be implemented in the district in the most efficient manner.
