MANGALDAI: Darrang district administration on Monday joined in the worldwide celebration of International Women's Day, but in a different way. The participating women (all government employees) too enjoyed the celebration.
All the four LACs in Darrang district, namely Kalaigaon, Sipajhar, Mangaldai (SC) and Dalgaon, are going to polls in the second phase on April 1. Therefore, the district administration on Monday arranged a special training programme for the women employees engaged in the poll process. A total of 500 women employees took part in the programme.
Taking part in the programme, Deputy Commissioner Dilip Kumar Borah offered greetings to the participating women employees on the auspicious day and appealed to them to perform their already assigned poll duties in the greater interest of democracy. "We are very sorry for engaging women employees in poll duty. But please think about the women officers and employees in civil administration, medical and health sector and in police who are rendering their service 24 x 7. On this internationally auspicious day, I appeal to you to render your sincere service for democracy," said the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Dilip Kumar Borah.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Training) Sanjib Bora and Assistant Commissioner Kashyapi Kashyap also took part in the training along with the master trainers.
