MANGALDAI: “Darrang district administration is not involved with the distribution of gratuitous relief among the sex workers in Darrang district during the pandemic of COVID 19,” said District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey while talking to media persons at his office chamber on Friday evening. It has been alleged that the district administration had distributed relief materials like rice, dal, salt, mustard oil and drinking water as gratuitous relief amounting to a total amount of Rs 16 lakhs among 616 sex workers in the district.” The gratuitous relief was distributed among the sex workers as per the list submitted by National Aids Control Organization (NACO) and Assam State Aids Control Society (ASACS) by a Non Government Organization,” added District Commissioner Ngatey and ruled out the involvement of district administration in making payments to the concerned contractors against the submission of false bills.
