MANGALDAI: The District Health department of Darrang has been awarded the first prize in the ‘Kayakalpa’ segment along with two other awards in the different ‘Swasthya Sewa Utsav’categories in the Swasthya Sewa Conclave held on Wednesday evening at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra, Guwahati.

Taking part in the conclave as the chief guest, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in presence of Health Minister Keshab Mahanta and other ministers, gave away the awards to the officials of the District Health Department. Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Munindra Nath Ngatey and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) Jonti Deka also attended the function.

Earlier, under the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey, Darrang Swasthya Sewa was organised in 42 health institutions of Darrang and out of which seven health institutions were awarded A grade. A total amount of Rs 57 lakh was also awarded to the health institutions of Darrang district in the conclave.

On behalf of the District Health Department, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jonti Deka, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Nirmal Beria and Superintendent of Mangaldai Civil Hospital, Dr Utpal Barua received the awards from the Chief Minister.
