MANGALDAI: Following the prompt recovery of a stolen car and along with the arrest of two car lifters within 12 hours in the well-coordinated and very prompt initiative of Darrang and Karbi Anglong police at Manza in Karbi Anglong on September 10, Darrang Police have succeeded in arresting both the key persons of the car lifter’s gang in Dimapur in Nagaland.
Under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, Sub-Inspector Krishna Kanta Laskar of district Cyber Cell and in-charge of Pothorughat Police outpost, Sub-Inspector Parag Hazarika laid a trap for two days taking both the already arrested car lifters Paban Bania and Bhabesh Kalita to the Assam-Nagaland border and on the midnight of September 14, succeeded in arresting both the kingpins of the notorious gang of car lifters in Dimapur. They have been identified as Sumba Chang (38) and Suba Chang (27) of Dimapur.
Both the arrested car lifters earlier paid Rs. 10,000 as advance to car lifter Paban Bania and agreed to pay an amount of Rs 1,50,000 after the delivery of the car. Officer in-charge of Dilai Police Station, Sub-Inspector Ranjit Hazarika and in-charge of Laharijan Police Outpost in Karbi Anglong district, Sub-Inspector Chitta Ranjan Bora extended all possible help and cooperation to Darrang Police which led to arrest of both the kingpins of the car lifter’s gang. Both the arrested car lifters were produced before the judicial court here on Sunday.
