Darrang Police seize six camels purchased from Haryana for Qurbani on Eid al-Adha

MANGALDAI: The team of Darrang Police recently seized six camels which were reportedly purchased from Haryana for Qurbani on the day of Eid al-Adha.

According to Darrang Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, the camels were brought to the district in an unauthorized manner which is a violation to the provisions of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Cruelty against Animal Act. Further, the buyer failed to produce any legal document regarding the purchase of the animals and its onward transportation to the district.

The Dhula Police Station seized five camels and arrested three persons - Tafizul Hoque, Saidur Rahman and Saket Ali of Kacharibari village under Dhula police station - in connection with case number 406/19 under section 379/411/414/428/429 of IPC read with section 11 of Prevention of Cruelty against Animal Act. Officer-in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station Inspector Niranjan Barua also seized a camel and registered a case in this regard.
