SILCHAR: The 'City Livelihood Center' was inaugurated at the NRDI Hall in Nazirpartty here on Tuesday. The programme was held under the aegis of the 'Assam State Urban Livelihood Mission Society'.
Inaugurating the Centre as the 'Chief Guest', Cachar Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli said, "I am happy to see the enthusiasm of the SHG members to make the City Livelihood Center a successful project".
The Deputy Commissioner also highlighted the importance of a collaborative approach of the members of SHG (Self Help Group) to make the livelihood efforts more successful with the optimum of skills.
Underlining the success stories of SHGs across the country, Cacahar DC Jalli said, "The SHGs should work on a professional model. All options must be tapped to make the SHG products available on the e-commerce platform. I urge members of the existing SHG network to spread the message among customers."
Earlier, the Executive Officer of 'Silchar Municipality Board', Jessica Rose Lalsim welcomed the guests and the participants. The City Project Manager also elaborated the objective of the programme and the purpose of the 'City Livelihood Center'.
The Center is like a one-window stop for the SHGs to sell their products. It also doubles up as a service centre.
The move aims at bringing together all the SHGs into the fold of the 'City Livelihood Center'. This move will help the SHGs to tap the market in a very professional manner. It will further aid the SHGs to profitably shift from the unorganised to the organised mode of working.
Among the dignitaries present were the representatives of the MP and also that of the Silchar MLA. Also present were Cachar Assistant Commissioner Abhinav Singh; Lead District Manager Arunjoyti Dey; and the City Project Manager, NULM.
The DC and other dignitaries also purchased various SHG products from the store, stated a press release issued from the Silchar DDIPR office.
