DC Keerthi Jalli inaugurated Warehouse for EVMs and VVPATs in Hailakandi

Hailakandi: Deputy Commissioner Keerthi Jalli inaugurated a warehouse for storage of EVMs and VVPATs here on Thursday. Dedicating the new building to the election team, Jalli said election encompasses many departments and from third and fourth-grade staff to senior officials, including police work round the clock following the announcement of the election and till the process is over. Jalli said the coming up of the new building will ensure a hassle-free and smooth conduct of an election in the near future. She hoped that the district would march triumphantly on the path of development with more projects in the days ahead. She urged everyone to consider the new building as one’s own asset.

The building will store the election electronic gadgets for 50 election districts of Assam. Built at a cost of Rs 218.13 lakh by PWD Building Division, Silchar, the one-story building houses preparation room, control unit chamber, office room, VVPAT chamber, ballot unit chamber, and gents/ladies toilets.

Construction of the building began on October 26, 2018, and completed on February 25 this year. Additional Deputy Commissioner, RK Dam, Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath, District Social Welfare Officer, J Daimari and Election Officer, Rahul Doley were present on the occasion.
