Dibrugarh: Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha on Wednesday directed Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB) to ensure clearance of municipal waste from all dustbins under municipal area before 6 am.
In a meeting held with the vice-chairman, Ward Commissioners and officials of DMB, the DC directed to sort out issues like distribution of labour and others related to transportation of waste to dumping zone within October 17 and to start the process of cleaning the town before 6 am from October 18. He also set 20 days’ timeline for DMB to start 100 per cent door-to- door collection of garbage on daily basis within municipal area. On submission by DMB that a fund of Rs 13 lakh will be required to start the whole process of door-to-door garbage collection, the DC instructed Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh-cum-DMB executive officer, Ranjit Konwar to assess the manpower, vehicle and other machineries required for the job along with machineries and fund already available with DMB.
Jha also directed the DMB accountant to submit a report within 6 pm on Thursday on funds allotted to DMB in recent past for IEC activities and details of all expenditures against IEC activities by DMB. In the meeting, Jha also set 100 days’ timeline for DMB to clean and beautify the town. He also urged the vice-chairman to hold board meetings at the earliest, take measures to increase revenue collection and cancel trade licenses of business establishments whether small or big, which do not possess dustbins and are making the city dirty.
