Dibrugarh: In a meeting held with Dibrugarh Conscious Citizens’ Forum (DCCF) regarding the issues of the town on Thursday evening, DC Pallav Gopal Jha called for residents’ participation in order to solve the problems afflicting the town. He added that work was already started, with the support of Dibrugarh Municipal Board, towards the collection of waste from the dustbins before 6 am everyday for turning the town clean.

Jha, at the same time, said that efforts were going on with respect to the effectuation of collection of waste from all households within the municipal area of the town over a span of 20 days. Sensitizing the people on segregating the waste at source was also being carefully considered, he mentioned. However, he said that the people would also have to do their bit, and refrain from littering as well as help the district administration identify any individual or organization throwing garbage outside beyond the stipulated hours. Jha reassured the representatives of the DCCF that he himself would keep a track of whether the waste was being collected before 6 in the morning or not. Moreover, he would soon get into discussions with major waste creators like hotels, shopping malls and nursing homes regarding their waste management measures in place.
