LAKHIMPUR: Challenging the ongoing adverse situation caused by COVID-19 pandemic, four entrepreneur students of Lakhimpur are all set for door-to-door supplying of essential commodities through online marketing. In view of this purpose, the students have already developed an online app named Bhogali which can be downloaded from Google Play Store to register the orders.

This was declared by Rituraj Sarmah and Snehankur Sarmah, the chief entrepreneurs of the venture, at a press meet held at North Lakhimpur Press Club on Friday.

Notably, the online enterprise is initiated by four students named Rituraj Sarmah, Snehankur Sarmah, Naba Pallab Borah and Sourabh Baruah hailing from Panigaon area of the district. Rituraj Sarmah is a graduate in Economics from North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) while Snehankur Sarmah is a student of MBA in the Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management, Sivasagar. On the other hand, Naba Pallab Borah is the student of MCA in JEC while Sourabh Baruah is a B.Sc student (Geology) in Sivasagar College.

Addressing the press meet, Rituraj Sarmah and Snehankur Sarmah said that they had initiated the venture to engage unemployed youths and to provide relief to the common citizens from the adverse effect of COVID-19 pandemic situation as much as possible. They added that the venture was launched on July 30 covering the North Lakhimpur sub-divisional area in the initial stage and the service and supply of the commodities would be extended across the district within a few days.

"We are planning to extend our service state-wide very soon. For this purpose, processes are underway," said Rituraj Sarmah. On the other hand, Snehankur Sarmah said that the supply of grocery items, electronic commodities, personal care commodities of standard quality, fresh fruits at reasonable prices would be covered in their service in the initial stage.

"We have ensured free home delivery on orders above Rs. 399. Moreover, we have ensured no-touch with bare hands delivery and double sanitization of the packets," he added. Rituraj Sarmah and Snehankur Sarmah said that the supply of other essential commodities would be covered in their service in the near future. They are also planning to purchase the agro-products from the farmers to wipe out the mediator's dominance in the marketing of the products concerned. "We have a dream and an aspiration to orient a wide market of the traditional and cultural online marketable cuisines of the State along with the traditional attires through our venture," said Rituraj Sarmah in the press meet.
