Declaration in International Knowledge Festival advocates BTR as gateway of peace to NE region

KOKRAJHAR: The perspective of the 1st Bodoland International Knowledge Festival hosted by Bodoland University (BU) with the support of government of BTC on February 27 to March 2 at the BU campus found resonance with its clarion call with the motto- ‘Knowledge for Peace, ‘Knowledge for Innovation’ and ‘Knowledge for Resilience’ which complementarily are poised to guide the future of Bodoland through an inclusive prism of knowledge advocacy, practice and systematic discourse.

The Chief of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) Pramod Boro while representing all sections of people of BTR and the Vice Chancellor of Bodoland University, while representing the foremost centre of higher learning in the region have proclaimed the Bodoland Knowledge Declaration, 2023 with its jurisdictional scope across BTR, as the principal foundational document to guide the evolution of the region and its people to the next level of progress and prosperity while underlining knowledge as the instrument to usher in a peaceful, smart, and green Bodoland with the objectives laid in the 10 articles adopted in the festival.

In the article 1, the festival in cognizance of the recommendations of the technical sessions observer committee of the festival stipulated the establishment of the Bodoland International Knowledge Centre (BIKC) with its head quarters stationed at Bodoland University to plan, regulate, commission and implement multidimensional knowledge activities as a solutions mechanism for addressing ground-level societal and developmental challenges across BTR, with active support and guidance of the BTR while article 2 stipulated the establishment of a school of peace and happiness studies in BTR, affiliated to Bodoland University and supported by BTR which will enhance the efforts to build bridges amongst many communities residing in BTR espousing a new era of peace and harmony.

The article 3 in cognizance of the announcement of the Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University made during the inaugural session of the 1st Bodoland International Knowledge Festival ,2023, wholeheartedly welcomes the decision to establish a chair in the name of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma in the esteemed University while article 4 in cognizance of the announcement of the Vice Chancellor of Cotton University made during the inaugural session of the 1st Bodoland International Knowledge Festival wholeheartedly welcomes the decision to name a New Educational Block in the name of great literary figure-Pramod Chandra Brahma in the esteemed university.

The article 5, in cognizance of the announcement of the Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University wholeheartedly welcomes the decision to support the formulation of the New Agricultural Policy of BTR while article 6 in cognizance of the vision of the Chief, BTR, stipulated the institution of three International Scholarships- one each for Humanities and Liberal Arts, Royal Sciences and Commerce- as a supplementary research grant to meritorious scholars to further their studies in selected leading universities of the world.

On the other hand, the article 7 and article 8 stipulated the establishment of a centre of indigenous knowledge systems at Bodoland University and the formalization of a cyber education mechanism covering a range of disciplines from advanced sciences to farming practices to raise the individual skill sets to help increase self-employment avenues in BTR. The article 9 advocated the declaration of the BTR as a gateway of peace to the North Eastern region while the article 10 stipulated the advocacy of the right to knowledge in accordance with the provisions of the constitution of India in the near future.
