JORHAT: The sensational triple murder case in the Khatti Suna area of Nakachari under Deberapar police outpost of Mariani police station in the district took a new turn with the recovery of another body, suspected to be that of the prime accused, near the incident site on Wednesday night.

The blood-splattered bodies of Hunti Bora, his wife Tulu Bora and daughter Mona Lisa Bora with multiple wounds were recovered in a hut behind a brick kiln on June 25.

Police sources said the decomposed body of a male person, reportedly with several wounds, was found hanging from a tree in a forested area near the incident site, not perceivable unless one went into that area.

The police source said that the body had been sent for post mortem and investigation was on.

On Thursday, family members, relatives of prime accused Tarun Das, and villagers of Aphala Gaon thronged the Mariani police station, claiming the body to be that of Tarun Das. They claimed that Das was not behind the murders. The kin and villagers sought justice for Tarun Das, who they suspected had also been murdered.

Additional SP Jorhat headquarters, Mrinmoy Goswami said that identity of the body recovered near the site was yet to be established as the face and body had decomposed beyond recognition.

Goswami, however, said that Tarun Das was the main suspect and that he had disappeared on the night of the triple murders.

Goswami also said that the person whose body was recovered might have also hanged himself that night but only the post mortem could establish the cause of death.
