Delay In Construction of Kopili Bridge resented

JAGIROAD: The slow pace of construction of the Kopili bridge at Bhakatgaon has caused resentment among the citizens of the district of Morigaon.

A construction company started the construction work in the year 2011 with an estimated cost of Rs 85.7 crore but till now not a single column had been completed. Several meetings with the National Highway Authority, Deputy Commissioner of Morigaon and the company were held for early completion of the work but the company allegedly failed to comply with all the instructions and from the month of February, the company has stopped all work of the bridge.

In this connection, a meeting was held with public and the representatives of AASU, Morigaon district committee, KMSS Morigaon, AJYCP Morigaon and AAMSU Morigaon where it was decided to take up some protest programme against the company.
