MORIGAON: The All Assam Goria-Moria-Deshi Jatiya Parishad, Morigaon district committee has demanded Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to recognize the indigenous Assamese Goria-Moria community after a distinct survey. A memorandum in this regard was submitted by the organization to the Chief Minister through the Morigaon Deputy Commissioner.
In a memorandum signed by president Ibadur Ali and general secretary Arif Uddin Ahmed, it was stated that successive governments in the State, by including the indigenous Assamese Muslim community with the migrated Muslims, had deprived the indigenous Muslim community of social, economic and political benefits.
The organization also said that though the State Government had announced a package of Rs 100 crore in the budget session for distinct survey to recognize the indigenous Muslim community, the money was yet to be allotted. The organization also demanded rapid construction of the new bridge at Jagibhakatgaon, Jagiroad.
