Demand for introduction of passenger train

Bilasipara: Goods train was introduced in the New Moynaguri-Jogighopa Railway line from January 15 and is operating smoothly. People of the area are now demanding immediate introduction of passenger trains on the route.

For setting up of alternative railway from New Moynaguri to Jogighopa, a demand committee was formed under the name and style New Moinaguri –Jogighopa Railway Extension Demand Committee and a movement was started in the year 1995. The Railway ministry approved the project in the year 2000. After 21 long years of agitation, goods train was introduced but nothing has been done regarding operating passenger trains. People have demanded immediate introduction of passenger trains on the route.
