Demand for ST categorization of Koch-Rajbongshi community: Biswajit Ray

Bongaigaon: “If ST categorization of Koch-Rajbongshi community is not done immediately then Koch-Rajbongshi National Convention will start mass agitation program from March in Assam and Bengal portion of Kamatapur,” said Biswajit Ray, general secretary of Koch-Rajbongshi National Convention on Monday in Bongaigaon.

He said that ST categorization of the Koch-Rajbongshi community should be granted in the upcoming session of the Legislative Assembly and Parliament. “Otherwise we will have no other option but to take the path of agitation. We will never let the sacrifice of the martyrs who died fighting for ST categorization of the Koch-Rajbongshi community go in vain,” he said. He also appealed to all people to light a candle in every home on the evening of January 7 on the occasion of martyrs’ day.
