MANGALDAI: “The State Government is highly concerned about the welfare of the ex-servicemen and their family members and the Darrang district administration has also been extending all help and cooperation towards the grievances and problems faced by the ex-servicemen and their family members,” said Darrang Deputy Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey while presiding over the meeting of Zila Sainik Board in the DC’s conference hall on Wednesday.
He also assured to issue suitable instructions to the departments concerned so that the ex-servicemen and their family members should not have to face any problem. He also assured to provide a spacious room for the ex-servicemen canteen in the proposed integrated DC office at Mangaldai.
Earlier, in his welcome speech, Zila Sainik Welfare Officer Col.(retired) Padma Lochan Barman highly appreciated the initiative of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma towards the problems and the grievances of the ex-servicemen in Assam. In a power-point presentation, he also highlighted the issues relating to issue of PRCs to the wards of ex-servicemen, issue of gun license, quota for wards of the ex-servicemen in getting admission in medical, dental, engineering and agriculture colleges and other issues.
Media person Bhargab Kumar Das appealed the district administration and the Zila Sainik Board to construct a ‘War Memorial’ in a spacious plot of land in Mangaldai to inspire the younger generation and the countrymen on the supreme sacrifices offered by the members of the armed forces.
