Demand to delete names of illegal voters from KAAC voter list

Diphu: Activists of more than 24 organizations staged a mass demonstration at Ru Semson Sing Ingti Memorial Park on Friday to demand deletion of names of illegal non- tribal voters from the KAAC voter list as per paragraph 20 of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India, and new Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) rules under paragraph 2 subparagraph 7 of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India.

They also demanded cancellation of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulation Act, 1886 and restoration of the customary land law and tribal customary law under paragraph 4 of the Sixth Schedule to the Indian Constitution. They urged to constitute traditional village councils under paragraph 3 subparagraph 1 of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution.

“More than 2. 5 lakh illegal immigrants and non-tribals should be immediately deported from Karbi Anglong by the KAAC,” said Ratan Terang, president of UKSA.
