Demise of Prof Jahar Kanti Sen mourned in Silchar

SILCHAR: Minister for Environment & Forest, Fisheries and Excise, Parimal Suklabaidya mourned the death of Prof Jahar Kanti Sen, former Head of Department of English, GC College, Silchar. Prof.Sen passed away on Tuesday morning at his residence following old age related ailments. He was 77. In a condolence message, Minister Suklabaidya said Prof Sen was a teacher par excellence and a name to reckon with in the literary circles. "I was extremely lucky to have Prof Jahar as my teacher. He was a teacher unparalleled and a storehouse of knowledge. He was an institution by himself. With his defiant and confidante strokes, he used to teach us English. His death is an irreparable loss to English literature and the vacuum created by him is hard to fill," he said.

Suklabaidya expressed his heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. "I pray that his soul may rest in eternal peace," he quipped.
