Demonstration of improved cultivation of Sali paddy in Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH: Two agricultural scientists from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dibrugarh, Dr Hemchandra Saikia and Dr Sanghamitra Sarma demonstrated improved cultivation of Sali paddy at farmer’s field of Ajoy Bailung of Na-bhakatia gaon under Tingkhong development block with the participation of more than 30 farmers and farm women. Both scientists also took part in the transplanting ceremony of Sali paddy at that locality along with farmers.

Dr Hemchandra Saikia, who is also in-charge of the Kendra, interpreted about various aspects of improved cultivation of Sali paddy like right variety selection, time of sowing, seed treatment, proper land preparation, fertilizer application, right spacing of paddy seedlings, no of seedlings per hill, top-dressing of fertilizers, water management, weed management etc. at the right time and place.
