DEMOW: With few days left for Vishwakarma Puja, preparation is going on in full swing in Demow and its surrounding areas and artisans are busy in making the Vishwakarma idols.

Mani Paul, a resident of Demow Dehajan, along with five other persons are busy giving final touches to the Vishwakarma idols. Mani Paul is the oldest artisan in Demow area. Talking to this correspondent, Mani Paul said that he has been making idols for the past 45 years. He is popular in Demow and its surrounding areas.

For Vishwakarma Puja this time, Mani Paul along with his helpers have made around 60 Vishwakarma idols and his idols are usually taken to Demow, Nitai, Athabari, Dehingmukh and Rajabari. The price of a small idol of the puja is Rs 6,000 and a big idol costs around Rs 9,000. Mani Paul and his helpers are preparing the Vishwakarma idols since the last four months because this year he has received many orders for the idols. “The price of the idols has increased this time due to GST and also the increased cost of the commodities with which the idols are made,” said Mani Paul.
