BONGAIGAON: Deputy Speaker of ALA (Assam Legislative Assembly) Dr Numal Momin, on Sunday, visited Mozabari, Choto Mozabari and Dologaon villages in Chirang district to assess encroachments in the areas under the 'Tribal Belt and Blocks'.

Talking to media persons, Dr Momin informed that he visited Chirang district as the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly were asked in the last Assembly session by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to study the prevailing condition of tribal population in the tribal belts and blocks. This move has been initiated by the 'Indigenous Tribal Faith & Culture department to protect and preserve the identity along with their art and culture under .

While replying to a query as to what arrangements have been made by the government for the people evicted from areas within the tribal belts and blocks, he said that the government does not do anything for such illegal people. "They will have to return to their own original places of residence at their own cost, added Dr Momin.

During his visit to the district, he also interacted with a delegation of the 'Bodoland Janajati Suraksha Manch' led by its general secretary -- Daorao Dekhreb Narzary.
