Dereliction of Electricity Department: Large area of southern Lakhimpur reeling under darkness

LAKHIMPUR: At a time when the campaign of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra has been initiated across the country to weave together stories of empowerment and collective engagement toward a shared vision of national development, a large part of Southern Lakhimpur under Panigaon Feeder of North Lakhimpur Electrical Subdivision has been reeling under darkness till the time of filing this report due to the dereliction of the Electricity Department.

It is because of a technical defect occurred in 33 KV Line supplying electricity from Ramanichuk Feeder under the same Electrical Subdivision to Panigaon Feeder. Notably, the electricity supply to the Panigaon Feeder from the Ramanichuk Feeder disrupted around 10.30 am on Wednesday. According to a reliable source, this happened due to the technical defect in the said line. But the matter of concern is that the technician and the engineers of the department were not potent enough to repair the line during a long period of nine hours by tracing the point where the defect occurred. As a result of it, a large part of Southern Lakhimpur, from Angarkhowa to Lohit Khaboloo, has been reeling under darkness till the time of filing this report. This made the people under the area suffer a lot. To know more about the issue, though this correspondent tried to contact two engineers of the Electrical Subdivision, they did not receive the calls. The source said that the technicians of the Electrical Subdivision has been busy to repair the line. Notably, the line is affected by frequent technical defect causing anomaly to the consumers.
