Teok:
Even as the government had announced several schemes and is looking at doubling
farmer's income by 2022, there are several farmers of Assam who live in
conditions beyond imagination.
This story is about a farmer from Teok in Assam. The tin roof of his house has big gaping holes, portions of the tin roof were blown away. The house made of thatch and bamboo is barely holding together.
A recent shower of hailstorm and thunderstormsthatch and bamboothatch and bamboo made things worse for the farmer. It damaged his lush green and golden standing crop. His paddy crop now standing in knee-deep water, rotting in the field.
A resident of Teok said," The saddest thing is the
farmers worked hard but despite their hard work they would not be benefitted
much. The paddy crop is destroyed they could only be able to take out maybe
only 50% of the crop."
The government indeed has announced several schemes and
but the big question is, are these efforts of the government reaching those who
need them the most?
