Devastating fire in book stall in Barpathar town under Golaghat district

SARUPATHAR: A devastating fire broke out at a book stall and newspaper agency in Barpathar town under Golaghat district on Tuesday.

Two fire brigades and fire fighters rushed to the spot and battled the blaze to douse off the flames. The fire was brought under control after three hours.

According to the sources, the shop was full of books, newspapers, office stationeries, three xerox machines, and five computers and this made the situation much worse. All total three shops were affected by the fire. Vivekananda Dutta, owner of the bookstall named Dutta Book Stall said that property worth around Rs 40 lakh to Rs 50 lakh was destroyed in the fire. No one was injured in the incident and further investigation is on.
